Thoughts on African Americans and Slavery
by Simon inlet's start by saying that slavery is of course a terrible thing, one of the worst crimes imaginable, and that "slavery" rarely implies good treatment, anything noble or defensible.
nowadays, even god doesn't escape judgement from our enlightened views with passages about slavery in the bible usually glossed over because they are shameful.. but not all slavery was equal.. because of the media, movie industry, racial tensions in the us regularly shown on the news and our taught history, i think most people's knowledge and idea of slavery is that of the north atlantic slave trade where white people took africans to work in cotton fields.
this idea is probably also re-enforced because the largest group of descendents of slaves we see today are african americans (usually in the us or places they subsequently migrated to).. but it's incomplete.. it's only when you look into it more that you discover that there was much more to the slave trade than that, otherwise it would have been just called "the slave trade" and not "the north atlantic slave trade".. some 12.5 million slaves were taken from africa to the us with just under 11 million surviving the trip so it obviously took a terrible toll immediately, even before any maltreatment once they landed in the americas where conditions and treatment were truly awful.

Man has been made more and more civilized as the years pass and things once considered morally acceptable are no longer viewed that way by the vast majority. It amazing how far we have come in a 150 years(Bible very old and full of cruelty and a form of justice very illegal today).
I'm hopeful that as time goes on we as a race will grow in understanding because with big brains we got more good than bad moving us forward in time.
With modern technology leading the way to better exploit our renewable resources I think we will see gadgets replacing any need for slavery of any kind.
And then AI can do everything for us perhaps wait on us hand and foot,, preform remarkable surgery, and whatever.

Well any kind of hacking done by a foreign power on government officials to get information that can hurt them getting elected should be considered as a serious offence, and cast serious doubts on the legitimacy of his presidency.
This might snow ball I'm hoping if not impeachment is just around the corner if Trump don't divest himself of all business interest. And give a full disclosure of funds and tax information to the American public as is only proper to avoid any conflict of interest in running the US government.

You may be right, definitely trying to hide something, but emails should be private to the recipient unless they want to make them public, which also may be another reason and less black and white like you suppose.

I'm chiming in at 63!
Yeah getting older makes you take a closer look at death and sickness and all the things that come with getting older. I think about both sets of grandparents more and what they went through facing the grim reaper.
On a positive note: I think a lot about my childhood and see how first learned things and how my ideas have changed and matured with the passing of time and better understandings. Sorta a review and make sense of the whole experience thing going on with me.
